about Steve Hobbs

About Us

A believer in the idea that every project depends on the success of the smallest of details, Steve Hobbs balances an understanding of the big-picture aspects of each project with a passion for the details that can define a project. He brings over 20 years of specialty building experience, a discerning eye, and a commitment to teamwork to each project. Before founding Hobbs Builders, Steve began his career working on restorations of historic buildings and homes in Philadelphia and Boston before moving to Seattle to work in construction management with KrekowJennings.

In 2014 Steve moved to the Wood River Valley with his family to enjoy the intimacy of a small community, access to the outdoors, and the culture that the Wood River Valley has to offer. He studied environmental studies and conservation biology at Middlebury College, which inspired a love of the outdoors and an understanding of the natural architecture around us.

Armed with a passion for coordinating complex projects that involve collaboration among clients, architects, designers, and craftspeople, Steve firmly believes that precision and the finest craft should be expected and celebrated in each aspect of every project. He knows that the client and their entire team are an integral part of the project’s successful progression and that communication between all of the players is essential.

Steve’s portfolio of projects include new contemporary and traditionally-designed residences, estate homes, historic renovations, condominium and high-end tenant improvements, infrastructure, and technical support for major art installations.

Steve lives in Ketchum, Idaho with his wife and three children. He is an active proponent of strong educational, athletic, and artistic opportunities for his children and the youth our community. In his downtime, Steve enjoys cycling, hiking, skiing and all things outdoors in the mountains and backcountry of Idaho.
